Most are familiar with RF's tactical side (aircraft flying), what they don't realize is that there's even more significant capability that is being exercised around the Airmen and their aircraft by the Shadow Operations Center – Nellis (ShOC-N).
  • Warfighter Exercise 20-3

    The 505th Combat Training Squadron (CTS) facilitated the replication of the appropriate echelons of the Air Operation Center (AOC) for Warfighter Exercise 20-3 (WFX 20-3), an Army exercise running 24-hour operations from 5 – 13 February 2020. The exercise directly trained over 4,000 joint warfighters and accomplished 50 joint training events using more than two dozen different systems connecting seven sites across the country.
  • VIRTUAL FLAG 20-1: Train as You Fight

    The 705th Combat Training Squadron (CTS), 505th Command and Control Wing, home of Kirtland Air Force Base’s Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC), hosts VIRTUAL FLAG which serves as a train as you fight exercise by integrating the full spectrum of air, land, surface, space, and cyber warfighters in a virtual battlespace in joint and coalition environments. From 2 – 12 December 2019, the 705th CTS hosted joint Exercise VIRTUAL FLAG (VF) 20-1 with its mission partner, the 377th Air Base Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. 
  • Tethered Aerostat Radar System Optimization

    The 84th Radar Evaluation Squadron (RADES) recently conducted an analysis and optimization of the Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The aerostat-borne surveillance system provides radar detection and monitoring of low-altitude aircraft and surface vessels along the U.S.-Mexico border and select Caribbean areas.
