1st Fighter Wing Welcomes New Commander

U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. David Lyons, 15th Air Force commander presents Col. Brandon “Gringo” Tellez, outgoing 1st Fighter Wing commander, with the Legion of Merit during a change of command ceremony at the 71st Fighter Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, June 6, 2025. Throughout his command, Tellez drove the wing to achieve new levels of combat success such as setting historic Air Force records in F-22 sortie production, reviving William Tell and the Mitchell Trophy Air Race.
