Beyond the base: ice fishing on Devils Lake
An ice fishing hole is drilled into the ice on Devils Lake, North Dakota, Feb. 25, 2025. At the time, the ice on Devils Lake was about 30 inches thick. The ice on the lake needs to be at least 4 inches thick for a person to safely walk on it. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Kyle Wilson)
