Mitchell Trophy Air Race Returns: Honoring 1 FW Legacy and Airpower Innovation
The Mitchell Trophy Air Race, 1st Lt. John L. Mitchell Trophy is silhouetted by light at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, Oct. 3, 2024. The competition has not taken place since October 17, 1936. The event will return this year testing the readiness, planning, and operational skill of the entire 1st Fighter Wing, specifically testing the resilience and speed of the Fighter Squadrons and Fighter Generation Squadron within the wing with direct support from the 1st Operations Support Squadron, the 1st Maintenance Squadron, and the 7th Fighter Training Squadron.
