Engineers lead the way: AFDW Civil Engineer Squadrons train for Readiness Challenge IX
Civil engineers from 316th and 11th Civil Engineer Squadrons put stakes into the ground for the Mobile Aircraft Arresting System during a training event, March 14, 2023, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. Civil engineers from the 11th and 316th Civil Engineer Squadrons came together to form a team that will represent Air Force District of Washington at Readiness Challenge IX, a competition aimed to test Air Force Civil Engineers’ contingency capabilities. The MAAS is a rapidly deployed system used to stop aircraft on shorter runways or in contingency situations, and installing the system is one of the many potential competition events at the Readiness Challenge.
