A new leader is now responsible for training Air Force senior leaders in advanced operational-level command and control. Lt. Col. Gregory J. Yuen assumed command of the 705th Training Squadron here from Lt. Col. Donald Finley at a ceremony March 6.
The 705th TRS is a subordinate unit of the 505th Command and Control Wing, an Air Combat Command tenant wing here. The 705th TRS provides advanced training to Air Force, joint, and coalition senior leaders through several in-depth courses. The courses provided by the 705th TRS focus on Air and Space Operations Center processes and other command and control issues, to help senior leaders prepare for their roles at Air and Space Operations Centers around the world. Additionally, the 705th TRS provides exercise support in several major Air Force exercises; provides operational tactics, techniques and procedures for Air Force component commanders; and collects, processes and publishes lessons learned to help others across the command and control community.
Colonel Yuen, a master navigator with more than 2,500 hours in the F-111 Aardvark and the F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft, comes to the 705th TRS from the 53rd Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, where he was the director of operations for the 29th Training Systems Squadron. At the change of command ceremony, Colonel Yuen said he was honored and humbled to be taking over leadership of the 705th. "I know of no better team of professionals anywhere," Colonel Yuen said. "We'll have challenges, and we'll find opportunities ... We'll focus on the goals to accomplish the mission, take care of each other, and have some fun along the way."
