Jordan 505 CCW/PA HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- A ceremony here May 15 recognized new leadership at the 505th Training Squadron, the Air Force's only squadron charged with integrating evolving command and control concepts into formal training for Air and Space Operations Center personnel. Lt. Col. Emile Hazeur, a veteran Air Force intelligence officer, took command of the unit from Lt. Col. Mark Douglas, who will continue to work on Hurlburt Field at the 505th Training Group. Col. Christopher DiNenna, 505th TRG commander, presided over the ceremony. In his opening remarks, Colonel DiNenna had words of encouragement for both Colonel Douglas and Colonel Hazeur. "Today is bittersweet, but it is a milestone for us. The 505th fondly says goodbye to Colonel Douglas and family. Congratulations on a job very well done," Colonel DiNenna said. "And the 505th formally welcomes Colonel Hazeur and his family. We wish you good luck as you face the challenges ahead" Colonel Douglas praised the unit he was leaving, saying "I'm amazed at what this squadron has accomplished. This wing and this squadron have become the center of excellence for C2 at the operational level." For Colonel Hazeur, the change of command was definitely a family affair, with his aunt, Sister Rose Hazeur saying the ceremony's invocation, and his sister, Ellen Hazeur-Colbert, singing the national anthem. After accepting the guide-on representing command of the squadron, the normally reserved colonel asked the audience to remember one of the final scenes of the movie Jerry Maguire. "You guys remember how Cuba Gooding, Jr., was acting then, jumping around, crying and yelling? I feel just like that right now. But I can't do that, because then Colonel DiNenna would have to fire me three minutes into the job," he said, garnering a big laugh from the audience. "To the 505th," Colonel Hazeur said, "I am honored and humbled to be your commander. I look forward to working with you all." The 505th TRS is a subordinate unit of the 505th Command and Control Wing, the Air Force's only Wing dedicated to operational-level command and control.
