The 505th Operations Group welcomed their new commander August 13 at Nellis Air Force Base.

Col. Douglas P. Anderson took command from Col. Patrick J. Raglow during a change of command ceremony. The 505 OG provides education and training to future operational and tactical operators and leaders of the U.S. Air Force, along with joint and allied partners, through advanced educational and tactical courses and exercises. They also support the integration of air, space, and cyberspace capabilities, systems, forces and operations in and through all domains to deliver precise effects for the Joint Force Commander across the full range of military operations.

Col. Anderson is a master air battle manager logging more than 3, 500 hours in AWACS.
"(Col. Anderson), your past has prepared you well for what lies ahead as commander of this fine organization," said 505th Command and Control Wing Commander Col. Edward McKinzie, who officiated the ceremony. He listed Colonel Anderson's many accomplishments, including past commander of the 605th Test Squadron (predecessor to the 605th Test and Evaluation Squadron), two staff tours with Headquarters Air Combat Command, and his most recent assignment as Director, Combat Operations Division at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where he lead a team responsible for the daily execution of Air Tasking Orders during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. "These experiences will serve you well as you look at greater ways to test, train, experiment and develop tactics in the air, space and cyber domains." Colonel McKinzie said. "We are looking forward to your leadership."

"I'm honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to lead this fantastic total force team," Colonel Anderson said. "The men and women of the 505th Operations Group deliver critical combat capabilities for the defense of our nation and I'm privileged to have the opportunity to serve with the 505 OG team."

Colonel Anderson also thanked Colonel Raglow for the "awesome" leadership he provided over the past two years and said he would do his best to carry the ball forward and build on the outstanding work already begun.

Colonel Raglow, a senior air battle manager, retired from the Air Force the next day. He was also praised by the wing commander for his leadership over the group that covers five organizations in nine states.

"You have led the U.S. Air Force as the organization for Command and Control testing of our theater air control system capabilities and national radar systems," Colonel McKinzie said. "Our AWACS, JSTARS, Command Reporting Centers, Air Support Operations Center, Air Defense sectors and Air and Space Operations Center weapons systems are better off because of your efforts."
