505th Wing honors its best and brightest at annual banquet

The 505th Command and Control Wing honored its outstanding Airmen, civilians and contractors during our annual awards banquet Jan. 28 at the Soundside Club.

The theme, of the evening was "Leading with Integrity, Serving with Excellence."

The awards recognize outstanding achievement in support of the wing's mission, which is to Improve Combat Capability for the Warfighter through Command and Control Testing, Tactics Development and Training.

Collectively, the award winners saved the Air Force hundreds of millions of dollars by developing new capabilities in the TACP field, creating a new hardware upgrade for the Air Support Operations Center, developing a new approach to Airspace Control Authority academics, redesigning a $1 million network hardware architecture increasing exercise bandwidth tenfold with zero security errors, and managing a deployment requirements manning document for Blue Flag 10-1, which ensured all 488 positions were mission-ready.

Col. Edward McKinzie, 505 CCW commander, was pleased with the number of nominees performing exceptional work and the supervisors who took the time to acknowledge them. He also recognized the hard work of all wing members throughout the year and stressed the importance of teamwork.

Command Chief Master Sgt. Martin Klukas, Air Combat Command, was guest speaker at the banquet were he cited the numerous accomplishments of the nominees and commended them for their superior performance and commitment to excellence.
 
"I'm honored to be a part of recognizing your warriors," Chief Klukas said. "Each nominee and winner represents the finest of the 505th Command and Control Wing."
