The Ninth Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, James C. Binnicker, visited the 505th Command and Control Wing here Aug. 12, to talk with Airmen and learn more about the wing's missions.

Chief Binnicker, who now serves as president and CEO of Air Force Enlisted Village, Inc., received a mission briefing from 505th CCW Commander Col. Edward McKinzie, and hosted an Enlisted Call with the wing's Airmen.

"I am ever so impressed with the 505th and the things you do here," Chief Binnicker said, at the beginning of the Enlisted Call. "I've heard about the magic and wizardry you do, and I couldn't be more proud of you."

When Chief Master Sgt. Deno Mackin became the 505th CCW's command chief in 2009, he began having monthly lunch meetings with the retired CMSAF. Col. Mustafa Koprucu, 505th CCW vice commander, attended July's lunch and during that meeting, the colonel and Chief Mackin asked Chief Binnicker if he would like to visit the wing.

Chief Binnicker, still actively involved in supporting the enlisted force, jumped at the opportunity to find out more about today's Airmen and their jobs.

"To have someone with the knowledge and passion in the local area like Chief Binnicker, was a golden opportunity I couldn't pass up," said Chief Mackin. "He is an amazing man, and obviously he still cares a great deal about the Air Force's Airmen and their families. Running the enlisted village, speaking at leadership graduations, leading Enlisted Calls like he did for the wing and he still finds time to champion causes affecting today's Airmen; he's just amazing."

Chief Binnicker said he doesn't care how "fancy or cosmic" the Air Force gets. "The real issue is people," he said.
