The 805th Combat Training Squadron (CTS), also known as the Shadow Operations Center – Nellis (ShOC-N), located at Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), Nevada, reports to the 505th Combat Training Group headquartered at Nellis AFB, Nevada. The ShOC-N is Air Combat Command’s (ACC) focal point for experimentation, rapid development, and test support to Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) technical solutions and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). The 805 CTS provides relevant C2 experience with agile development operations (DevOps) and operationally relevant assessments (ORA) to assist in gap analysis and rapid acquisition decisions. The 805 CTS’ mission focuses on evolving JADC2 concepts, applications, and architectures through capability development, training, and support to functional and operational assessment.
MISSION
The 805 CTS’ mission is to establish and sustain an operationally relevant experimental environment facilitating data driven feedback and integration to shape C2 capabilities against a pacing threat. The squadron’s vision is to be the beacon for innovative C2 solutions to revolutionize warfighter decision making advantage.
KEY PROGRAMS
Experimentation – As the U.S. Air Force’s JADC2 and Advanced Battle Management System Battle Lab, ShOC-N provides joint and coalition forces a secure multi-classification training and experimentation environment. These experiments and training events are presented in a peer-to-peer, major combat operations scenario for the greatest affect and relevance.
Innovation – ShOC-N hosts a technical and operational environment to support events and exercises with joint, coalition and industry partners. The environment uniquely allows ShOC-N to shadow real world and exercise operations to provide ORAs and drive future development. Examples of possible events/exercises in which ShOC-N can experiment and innovate include Bamboo Eagle, RED FLAG, NEPTUNEs, and U.S. Air Force Weapons School Integration.
Development and Integration – Subject matter experts and computer program specialists develop and integrate software, TTPs, and recommendations focused on enhancing the warfighter’s effectiveness. This effectiveness is amplified through machine-to-machine integration; thus enabling all-domain C2 and battle management.
PERSONNEL
The 805 CTS has approximately 80 enlisted Airmen, 30 officers, 60 civilians, and 47 contractors assigned.
