Col. James C. Fields II is the Commander, 505th Test and Training Group, Hurlburt Field, Fla. As the Commander, Col. Fields is responsible for initial and advanced training for U.S. Air Force, joint, and coalition personnel in the principles, processes, and systems used to command airpower at the operational-level of war, developing operational-to-tactical level tactics, techniques, and procedures supporting air, space, and cyber integration. Additionally, the 505th TTG conducts operational tests for elements of the Theater Air Control System, space, cyber, and selected intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance weapons systems while providing responsive worldwide radar-centric planning, optimization, and constant evaluation. The 505th TTG includes more than 500 personnel in four active-duty squadrons, three detachments, and six operating locations.
Col. Fields was a non-commissioned officer prior to receiving a commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Officer Training School in 2000. He has served in a variety of flying, non-flying, and staff assignments, including Instructor Air Battle Manager, USAF Weapons School, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.; Commander of the 621st Air Control Squadron, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea; and Chief, Command and Control Branch, Headquarters Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Va. Prior to his current position, the colonel was the Vice Commander, 607th Air and Space Operations Center, Headquarters Seventh Air Force, Air Force Forces Korea, Osan AB, ROK.
Col. Fields is a Master Air Battle Manager with more than 2,200 flight hours.
