Colonel KARL R. "SHIZ" WEINBRECHT

Col. Karl R. Weinbrecht is the Vice Commander, 505th Command and Control Wing (CCW), Hurlburt Field, Fla. The mission of the 505th CCW is to advance, integrate and standardize training, tactics and testing for operational-level command of air, space and cyber power in the joint and coalition environment. He assists the commander in developing the combat capability of the Air Operations Center and leading the U.S. Air Force’s (USAF) Distributed Mission Operations and live, virtual, and constructive capabilities. The 505th CCW is comprised of the 505th Test and Training Group at Hurlburt Field, Fla., 505th Combat Training Group at Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), Nev., and 505th CCW, Detachment 1 at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Col. Weinbrecht received his commission in 2000 from Officer Training School. After graduation from Joint Specialized Undergraduate Navigator Training in 2001, he was assigned as an Electronic Warfare Officer to the EC-130H COMPASS CALL.

In addition to numerous operational assignments, he served on staff at the Pentagon as Chief, Airborne Electronic Attack Branch (HAF/A5RE), twice commanded the 41st Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron in Afghanistan supporting Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, and served as Deputy Commander of the 55th Electronic Combat Group, 55th Wing. Prior to his current position, the colonel was the Chief, Force Management Division, Joint Staff, J32 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Operations, the Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
