The 505th Communications Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla., is part of the 505th Training Group under the 505th Command and Control Wing.
The 505th CS is the premier provider of state-of-the-art C2 systems in support of activities serving the evolving needs of the C2 warfighter. The 505th CS role is supporting the 505th CCW's mission to advance, integrate, and standardize testing, tactics, and training for operational-level command and control of air, space, and cyber power in joint and coalition environments.
The mission of the 505th CS is to sustain, operate, and maintain realistic air and space operation center and core C2 systems, modeling and simulation systems, local/wide area networks, and VTC systems, for worldwide AOC integration. The 505th CS delivers an operational warfighting C2 Cyber domain for the diverse training, exercise, testing, and experimentation activities of the 505 CCW.
· Operate and maintain the Air and Space Operations Center weapons system in support of all 505th CCW testing, training, exercise and experimentation activities.
· Provide innovative operational and technical expertise on AF Command and Control systems.
· Provide and sustain systems infrastructure for 505th CCW units to include communications, exercise network, computer services, and modeling/simulation support.
· Provide overall status and reporting of 505th CCW routine and event-specific C4I operations and maintenance requirements.
To execute this mission, the 505th CS is organized into two flights. The Operations Flight provides a network control center capability, including a client service center, network management, server administration and network information assurance services in support of AOC training. Also, the flight enables knowledge operations through such services as records management, content and collaboration management, workflow, electronic communications management and publishing. The flight further provides technical and systems support for Wing communications and computer systems for modeling and simulations. The Plans and Programs Flight manages activities related to wing-level command, control, communications and computers systems planning: plans support, including project management, strategic planning and requirements analysis; implementation of architectures, integration, direction and standards; resources, including budgeting and billing; and, human resources/functional management, including agreements and contract management. The Plans and Programs Flight is also responsible for wing-level communication security programs.
